Reiki For You
Reiki aims to bring balance to the recipients own energy system, encouraging it to flow through the body easily.
In this balanced and calm space, the body, mind, and emotions can stop and recalibrate.
What happens in a session?
A session is carried out either with the recipient lying on a couch or sitting in comfortable chair in a calm setting. The practitioner places their hands either on or over the body. Calming music may be played if desired. It does not require the removal of clothing and no pressure or physical manipulation is applied. It is therefore adaptable to any setting that has minimal distractions.
Appointments are currently held at The Practice Rooms in Salisbury. They can also be provided in a workplace, as a taster session during a wellbeing event or even at a distance.
Will I feel anything during the session?
Reiki is deeply relaxing and calming. It may take a few sessions to recognise how the energy feels to you. During a session you may experience a floaty or light feeling, warmth, tingling or coolness. Sometimes you may not experience anything other than tranquillity.
How will it effect me?
As with all practices that work with energies, the effects of a session may not be felt straight away. However, the balance it provides will continue to work for a few days following your session.
It is common to experience a release of emotion, so you may have moments of contemplation in the following days. We may feel inspired to consider all areas of our life and what supports it from a more relaxed viewpoint. We may also start to become more aware of our intuitive self and the subtle ways the body can direct us to achieve optimum health and well-being. The effects can be perceived as miraculous at times, as we can be astounded by the way things unfold from the decisions we begin to make from this new perspective.
It can also be dehydrating and it is advisable to be responsive to your body’s needs, to rest when you need to and to drink plenty of water.
Will Reiki effect my medical care or other therapies?
Reiki does not replace conventional medicine. It will also work alongside and compliment other therapies. It is recommended to let your doctor or therapist know that you are receiving Reiki and to discuss any changes that you notice.
Do not stop any medicines or care without consulting your medical doctor/professional first.
Are there any contra-indications?
Reiki is considered a safe practice as there is no manipulation, ingestion or anything applied to the skin. For your safety and your practitioner’s, it is advisable to fully disclose any medical or mental health conditions, so that these can be discussed prior to any session.
Pregnancy – Even though Reiki with pregnancy is widely reported as safe, for peace of mind, it is advisable to receive any complementary therapies only in the 2nd trimester.
Other ways to experience Reiki:
Reiki sent when in-person attendance isn’t possible.
Reiki sessions at a scheduled event or host your own.
Reiki can be easily fitted in to a lunch hour or after work too.
